Initially for this project, I wanted to photograph people of Plymouth. However, I felt this was very similar to my other work of documentation. I wanted to use this project as a way of expressing Plymouth instead of the people.
When I first went out with the camera, I was just capturing images of streets around me, with no real motive. But then when it became darker and the ambient lights become more visible, I used this as a chance to capture long exposure images of the lights. This is a genre of photography that I don’t usually use for my images because I prefer to see the image as it would be seen to the eye. However, I felt that these images worked really well and signified the contrasting colours.
